Now she knows how her husband felt in ”Fatal Attraction.” Catherine Zeta-Jones has been plagued by a suspected stalker, according to Reuters and the Associated Press. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement Wednesday saying that the suspect, a Beverly Hills woman named Dawnette Knight, had been arrested at home on June 3 and had been arraigned on one count of stalking and two dozen counts of ”terrorist threats,” that is, menacing letters and phone calls made to the actress since early 2003. At her arraignment, Knight pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to a department spokesman, Zeta-Jones informed police of the threats in February, and an investigation into the letters and phone calls, including one made recently to Austria, where the actress was shooting ”Ocean’s Twelve,” traced them to Knight. She is being held on $1 million bail because she has no family or job ties to the area and is considered a flight risk, the department said. According to the District Attorney’s office, Knight is due in court on June 29 and could face up to 19 years in prison if convicted on all counts. Cece Yorke, the Oscar winner’s publicist, issued a statement saying that Zeta-Jones and her family were ”greatly relieved that the suspect is in custody.”
