Mary-Kate Olsen’s health woes are apparently so serious that Ashley Olsen has canceled a promotional trip to Australia and New Zealand in order to tend to her ailing sister, the Associated Press reports. As recently as Wednesday, Ashley was still planning to go visit Down Under alone, according to People, in order to promote the Australian opening of the sisters’ movie ”New York Minute.” On Thursday, however, Robert Thorne, chief executive of the Olsens’ Dualstar Entertainment Group, issued a statement, saying: ”Ashley Olsen has decided to be with her family at this time.”

As reported on Tuesday, Mary-Kate recently entered a treatment facility to fight an eating disorder. According to People, the thin twin’s family staged an intervention shortly after the sisters’ June 7 high school graduation and before their 18th birthday on June 13, while Mary-Kate’s parents still had the legal right to act on her behalf in seeking treatment. Olsen publicist Michael Pagnotta told that Mary-Kate still planned to join Ashley at New York University this fall, where the twins are due to enroll as freshmen. But for now, neither sister is going anywhere. ”While it is unfortunate that plans have been canceled, Mary-Kate and Ashley appreciate everyone’s support and understanding at this time,” Thorne said in his statement. ”They look forward to coming to Australia and New Zealand in the very near future.”
