MOVIES As RZA and GZA might say, ”What’s new, Billmurray?” Their ”Coffee and Cigarettes” costar will apparently join the cast of ”The Lost City” — the Deal Report says ”apparently” because you can never quite get a straight answer out of this guy or his reps, which, hey, is part of why we all love him so much, right? He’d play an expat writer who pals around with Andy Garcia in 1950s Cuba — sort of like he’s the incomparable Oscar Levant to Garcia’s Gene Kelly, for all you fellow ”An American in Paris” fans out there…. Speaking of ”Ghostbusters 2,” another Vigo — Viggo Mortensen, so great in Sean Penn’s ”The Indian Runner” — is in final negotiations for ”A History of Violence,” an adaptation of John Wagner and Vince Locke’s graphic novel about a small-town diner owner who, because the thing is called ”A History of Violence and Scanners” squirm-meister David Cronenberg is directing, is a sure bet to fall on some rock-hard times…. Dave Chappelle — who found a nifty ”Chappelle’s Show” catchphrase in ”I’m Rick James, bitch!” — might actually play Rick James, bitch, in a Rick James biopic based on James’ upcoming ”Memoirs of a Super Freak.”

TELEVISION Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah — uh, who? These are writer-producers from the great, gone ”Freaks and Geeks,” and they just scored a big deal with Touchstone TV to exec-produce a family drama called ”Life as We Know It” for ABC, and maybe a Jennifer Love Hewitt sitcom, too. Since EW likes ”Freaks” an awful lot (see Must List item No. 40), we thought this was worth mentioning, okay?
