We gave it a B+

Walking Concert mastermind Walter Schreifels could be ponderous in one of his earlier bands, Quicksand, an often pointless crunch-rock outfit. Here, he hits on the freeing notion of making pointlessness the point, offering pretty tunes about gazing around the recording studio (”Studio Space”) and scrambling the title of Springsteen’s song in his own title tune — Run to be Born — to dither happily about a self-absorbed girlfriend. This is assiduously shallow music, with energetic melodies and keening vocals that achieve giddy sincerity.
