Don’t fret about new mom Julia Roberts’ ability to put food on the table for her newborn twins. She’s the best-paid actress in movies, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s annual ranking of the industry’s top-earning female stars. At $20 million per picture, the Ocean’s Twelve star edges out Cameron Diaz, who earns the same salary but was not seen on screen this year. (She was heard, though, in Shrek 2, the year’s biggest hit.)

In third place is Nicole Kidman, at $15 million per picture. (Fourth place Reese Witherspoon and fifth place Drew Barrymore also have $15 million fees, but the Reporter gives Kidman the edge because her Oscar gives her a little more drawing power.) Halle Berry was No. 6 ($14 million), followed by Sandra Bullock and Angelina Jolie (an estimated $12 to $15 million each). At No. 9 is Renée Zellweger ($12 million), edging out Jennifer Lopez (the same salary, but no Oscar or big recent box office hits).

Notably absent from the list are such previous power players as Jodie Foster and Michelle Pfeiffer, who kept low profiles this year, and Gwyneth Paltrow, Meryl Streep, and Meg Ryan, who did not. The Reporter also ranked the earning power of some rising movie starlets. Spider-Man 2‘s Kirsten Dunst topped that list at $8 million, followed by Lindsay Lohan ($7.5 million), Jessica Alba and Mandy Moore ($3 million each), and Sarah Michelle Gellar ($2 million). Can’t the Grudge star scare up a bigger salary than that?
