We’re dying to see ”Fever Pitch”

WHY WE CAN’T WAIT The filmmaking Farrelly brothers (There’s Something About Mary), cuties Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore, and sports comedy — sounds like a winning team. Plus, seeing last year’s Red Sox championship season immortalized in this flick may remind disbelievers that it really happened.

THE PREMISE Fallon is a diehard Sox fan whose attachment to his team’s losing ways keeps him from committing to girlfriend Barrymore.

SOURCE A novel by Nick Hornby, which was about British soccer fans and was already adapted into a movie starring Colin Firth across the pond

THE BACK STORY The Farrellys, Fallon, and Barrymore were present, with cameras rolling, when the Sox ended their decades-long drought and won the World Series last fall, which forced the filmmakers to rewrite the film’s ending. ”We never figured they’d, you know, win,” Bobby Farrelly says.

BURNING QUESTION Will the movie work with an upbeat finale?
