Reese Witherspoon may be Hollywood royalty, but she doesn’t appreciate being chased by aggressive photographers as if she were Princess Diana. That’s what she said happened to her Friday night, prompting her to file a formal complaint with the Los Angeles Police Department. A source close to the actress told the New York Daily News that stalkerazzi surrounded her as she tried to leave a gym, and that she needed the help of her trainer to get safely into her car. Then, the source said, the photographers boxed her in. When she was finally able to pull out, at least five vehicles followed her to the home she shares with husband Ryan Phillippe and their two children, and she couldn’t shake the pursuers until her gated community’s security staff helped her inside, where she immediately called police.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight, an LAPD spokesperson confirmed that police were investigating the incident and were considering false imprisonment charges against the photographers, though no charges have yet been filed. The purported paparazzi pursuit follows a similar complaint made by Jennifer Lopez in an interview last week. According to People, she said photographers in Beverly Hills nearly sideswiped her car, acting as if they were playing ”cops and robbers.” Well, here come the cops.
