Judd Apatow may be the most well-connected guy in comedy.
He’s the director and co-writer of The 40-Year-Old Virgin, producer of Anchorman, and creator of Freaks and Geeks. He’s also worked with pretty much everyone in comedy’s ubiquitous ”Frat Pack” (Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, Jack Black), as well as Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, Garry Shandling, Roseanne, and others. ”We all just have similar tastes in what we find funny, which comes from mutual admiration of people before us: Albert Brooks, Harold Ramis, SCTV, Saturday Night Live,” Apatow tells EW’s Josh Rottenberg, who profiles him in the upcoming issue. ”And maybe everyone’s crazy in a similar way — needy and dark and attempting to be happy. Maybe we all had the same mother.”
