We gave it a B-

The Marriage Diaries‘ conceit is gimmicky, albeit somewhat juicy: Fashionista Celeste comes across her husband Sean’s online journal and, with blessings from her shrink, keeps a companion diary. But author Rebecca Campbell inexplicably ditches the snooping shtick (and the shrink) halfway through the novel, just as Sean, a stay-at-home dad and aspiring novelist, begins flirting with ”yummy Mummy” Uma Thursday and Celeste has a fling with ”easy on the eye… but you’d hardly call him amusing company” Ludo Moss. All that remains are he said-she said confessions from mismatched spouses and a happily-ever-after finale that is the hollowest endorsement of marriage this side of Kevin Federline.
