On screen, Audrey Hepburn was the epitome of sprightly elegance. In real life, she was as human as the rest of us. She endured a cold mother and remote father, two unhappy marriages, several failed pregnancies, and bouts of depression and insecurity.

Gossipy? Absolutely. But Spoto clearly respects Hepburn, particularly her tireless UNICEF work.
