Daniel Stern remembers Jack Palance

FEB. 18, 1919-NOV. 10, 2006

From his poetry to his paintings to his acting to the way he ran his farm, Jack Palance lived his life as an artist. Spending time with him on the City Slickers movies showed me how wonderfully a life can be lived if one insists on listening to his own drummer. He gave off an electricity that was mesmerizing and engaged the world in such a unique way, seeing beauty and sadness and humor and life through that dark lens that was Jack’s alone. (Palance died of natural causes in Montecito, Calif.)
