Reunited and it felt so…hot! From April 27 to 29, some 60,000 people descended upon the sweltering Indio, Calif., desert for three days of concerts and rampant dehydration at the 8th Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. As temperatures soared into the triple digits, indomitable fans celebrated the reunions of Rage Against the Machine, Crowded House, and Happy Mondays; jammed to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Björk, and Willie Nelson; and took in up-and-comers like Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, and the Fratellis. The backdrop? A gorgeous, arid setting dotted with palm trees — and within kissing distance of the San Andreas Fault. ”Are you having fun?” asked Jesus and Mary Chain frontman Jim Reid. ”Well, we’ll see what we can do about that.” Done and done!
