Nonbelievers may argue that crescendo-obsessed quartet Sigur Rós simply take Enya-like arpeggios and swelling strings and sing over them in the voice of the Swedish Chef. This, of course, is a huge mistake: These dudes are Icelandic! Still, the formula works. If the electric and acoustic discs (which recast earlier work) sound familiar — well, that’s just a testament to the band’s ability to achieve enormous dynamic range with or without amplifiers. And on the noisy ”Hafsól,” they even speed things up a bit. B+
