Beastie Boys' Yauch launches film company

(FROM VARIETY) ? Adam Yauch, also known as MCA of the Beastie Boys, is launching Oscilloscope Pictures, a New York-based full-service film distribution company. Yauch previously directed and produced the Beastie Boys concert film Awesome; I F—-n’ Shot That!, which featured a performance at Madison Square Garden and was distributed by ThinkFilm in 2006. He is teaming with David Fenkel, a former executive for ThinkFilm, for the new company. ”We’re not looking to throw big MGs at films, we’re looking to partner with filmmakers and put smart money into P&A so that we can really share with the backend with the filmmakers and we’re in the same boat together,” Yauch was quoted in Variety as saying. Yauch added that the company will employ grassroots and nontraditional methods to spread the word about their films. (Variety)
