'American Idol' result: We're down to six

Likable underdog makes her final visit to the bottom three; Syesha Mercado and Brooke White survive voting to return for Andrew Lloyd Webber week

American Idol

Country crooner Kristy Lee Cook, a frequent visitor to the American Idol bottom three, finally lost the numbers game in the voting announced on this week’s results show. Syesha Mercado and Brooke White had the next two lowest vote totals, but will return to the competition next week, when the mentor will be Phantom of the Opera composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

After her elimination, Kristy Lee playfully planted herself on the judges’ table right in front of frequent nemesis Simon Cowell, serenading him with her farewell performance of Mariah Carey’s ”Forever.” Carey, this week’s Idol mentor, took to the stage earlier to perform ”Bye Bye” from her new album E=MC2. Season 5’s third-place finisher Elliott Yamin also took the mic to sing ”Free.” For complete analysis of Wednesday’s show and your forum to post your thoughts about it, see Michael Slezak’s American Idol TV Watch recap.
