Movies
You got the No. 1 TV show right (The Simpsons), but why was Se7en missing from your list of the 100 best films of the last 25 years? The film’s tone, look, and style have been aped in dozens of thrillers since its 1995 release. Apparently there’s an eighth deadly sin…and you committed it.

Television
Was Cheers left off your TV list because its first season was in 1982, so the show would therefore be 26 years old, not 25? Its absence from the top 25 should be addressed.

Editor Josh Wolk responds: Yep, it was disqualified by one year (which broke my Norm-lovin’ heart). But it qualified for our holiday-favorite list, as its hilarious Thanksgiving episode aired in ‘86. Our mag, our rules!

Music
I truly enjoyed your roundup of the 100 best albums. I especially liked that you didn’t put Nirvana’s Nevermind, U2’s The Joshua Tree, or Radiohead’s OK Computer in the top 10, as lists like this often do. Kudos for giving less obvious choices, like Fiona Apple’s Tidal, the respect they deserve.

Books
What happened to Jeffrey Eugenides’ Middlesex?! If ever there was a novel that covered a new topic with wit and grace, it’s this one.

Tech
The Nintendo Wii should have been featured. The future of games will be about how to better incorporate the user into the experience, and the Wii — which is accessible for all ages — is the first step in the process.

Editor Wook Kim responds: We love it too, but the console still lacks a solid roster of must-own games. The PS2 never suffered from this problem — which helps explain why Sony continues to sell a console introduced way back in 2000.

Loved It
I gotta say, this issue blew me away. Every list was packed with memories. Thanks for coming up with a spectacular idea that allowed your readers to celebrate this milestone occasion with you. Each issue usually stays in my house for a week or two before hitting the recycling bin, but this one has found a permanent home.

Loathed It
The proclamation ”The 100 Best [blank] of the Last 25 Years” at the start of each section is a regrettable misnomer, because these lists are more about cultural impact than about what was actually the best. I mean, what critic in his right mind would call Pretty Woman one of the 50 best films of the ’90s, let alone the last 25 years?

THE 7 FLICKS READERS MISSED MOST
Hey, you can’t please ‘em all. But a staggering number of Shawshank Redemption devotees clamored for a redo. Fans of rose petals, velociraptors, and Rodents of Unusual Size, among others, also objected.

1 The Shawshank Redemption
2 Forrest Gump
3 American Beauty
4 The Usual Suspects
And tied for No. 5…
5 Jurassic Park, The Princess Bride, Braveheart
