David Duchovny’s lawyer confirmed to People on Thursday evening that the Californication star has checked into rehab to undergo treatment for sex addiction. “I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction,” Duchovny said in a statement. “I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.” Duchovny has been married to actress Téa Leoni since 1997. They have two children, daughter Madelaine West, 9, and son Kyd, 6.
In addition to his role as FBI agent Fox Mulder in The X Files TV series and movies, Duchovny also starred for several years as the presenter/host on Showtime’s erotic drama series Red Shoe Diaries, and he currently stars on Showtime’s Californication as Hank Moody, a novelist grappling with a midlife crisis and having a lot of sex.
