A show of hands — who didn’t see this coming?

CBS has picked up The Mentalist for a full season.

An Eye spokesperson confirms that the network has ordered nine additional episodes of the freshman smash, bringing the show’s season 1 total to 22.

The move was foreshadowed last week when CBS requested six additional Mentalist scripts. Another winning ratings performance last night — the Simon Baker-led drama won its time slot with 15 million viewers — sealed the deal.

The Mentalist is the third new series to get a back-nine order — 90210 being the first and Fringe the second.

Mentalist fans, this is the part where you scroll down and congratulate everyone connected with the show on a job well done. And yes, that includes the person who brought you this news.
