Happy 50th birthday, Simon LeBon!

Always happy to celebrate Duran Duran, today we toast Simon LeBon, who’s turning the big 5-0.

According to the band’s site, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes, and Roger Taylor gave their frontman a collection of 50 albums – one representing each year of his life. (Rio was the record for 1982.) LeBon posted a message thanking fans for remembering his milestone: “I’m so happy to still be around at the age of 50,” he writes. “No, I don’t feel old. (My knees are creaking a bit, but my eyes are fine. I am healthy and (some say) wise.) If there’s one thing I have learned in fifty years, it is how to say ‘No Thank You’ with grace.”

Apparently, he hadn’t mastered that when he was 30. Below, he, Nick, and John spend nine minutes taping promos for MTV.
