TV Ratings: People really do watch more than football on Thanksgiving

Hope you filled up during yesterday’s big afternoon meal, because last night’s primetime pickings were pretty slim (and mostly reruns) on every major network. I myself settled for Home Alone on FX. 

Top rated net CBS knew the best way to serve leftovers — combine them with some fresh fixings. The net’s primetime opener, a Survivor: Gabon recap show featuring never-before-seen scenes, was watched by 8.5 million people (low for the series, but good for Thanksgiving night). The reality program was the second place show of the night, trailing only its followup, CSI (10.6 million), at 9 p.m. Then, an Eleventh Hour rerun attracted 7.5 million at 10 p.m., the third biggest audience of the day.

Fox and ABC tied for second place, meanwhile. Fox’s holiday airing of the Adam Sandler vehicle Click attracted 6 million viewers. ABC’s re-airing of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving drew 6.5 million, and the Alpha net’s double shot of Grey’s Anatomy reruns lured an average 5.5 million viewers. That was way more than the 4.5 million who watched Pixar’s The Incredibles on NBC at 8 p.m. or stuck around for a rerun of The Office at 10:30 p.m. Over at the CW, reruns of Smallville and Supernatural took in 1.8 million and 1.7 million viewers, respectively
