Jonas Brothers announce world tour beginning May 19 in Lima, Peru

On their MySpace page earlier this week, teen pop-phenom band the Jonas Brothers announced their first world tour, beginning May 19 in Lima, Peru . The brotherly trio will spend the end of May performing in South America—blowing through Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil—before kicking off the North American leg of their tour on June 20 in Dallas, Texas. Tour dates in Europe, Australia, and Asia are still to be determined.

Opening acts include season 6 American Idol winner Jordin Sparks and Honor Society, a band which describes itself as “where the great arena-rock acts of the eighties meet modern pop and hip-hop shows” on their MySpace page. The Jonas Brothers say they’ve been working on new material (from their forthcoming June 15 album and Disney TV show, Jonas) in the studio and “can’t wait for [fans] to see/hear our new music.” A “Water Screen and other crazy stuff” are promised for the production, which includes a new stage.

Fan Club members can purchase tickets March 20, and stubs go on sale in select markets March 20. All dates will be available March 28.
