Madonna adopting second Malawian child, say officials

According to a source who spoke to the Associated Press, Madonna will be visiting Malawi this weekend to move forward on the adoption of a yet-unidentified child. An official at the African nation’s welfare department said that adoption papers had already been filed. It has been rumored that Madonna wants to bring home a girl, but there currently is no information to confirm that fact.

In addition to her two children from previous relationships, daughter Lourdes, 12, and son Rocco, 8, Madonna adopted 3-year-old Malawian-born son David in 2008. Foreign adoptions are not officially allowed in Malawi; nor are adoptions by single or divorce parents, which has lead some to speculate that her celebrity affords her special treatment. Madonna’s rep declined to comment for this story.
