Stephen Colbert fears for Glenn Beck's sanity, launches 'The 10.31 Project'

My reaction to Glenn Beck’s poorly-phrased ‘9.12 Project’ – “designed to bring us all back to the place we were on September 12, 2001” – was similar to Stephen Colbert’s on last night’s Report (see the clip below). Colbert responded to the Fox News personality’s nine principles (No. 7: “I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable”) and 12 values (No. 6: Charity), by introducing his own plan to unify America: “The 10.31 Project,” which entails house-to-house soliciting of tangible contributions to America, “preferably in the form of a sugary treat.” Which will you follow? Beck’s group has 344,011 members at last count; Colbert’s site is under construction.
