The week ending April 12 had an unusually large number of new shows premiere – ABC’s Surviving Suburbia and The Unusuals; CBS’ Harper’s Island; and NBC’s Southland and Parks & Recreation – but none of them could stop Fox’s American Idol, which once again took the top two spots in the Top 20. The Wednesday results show, which featured performances by Frankie Avalon, Idol alum Kellie Pickler (pictured), and Flo Rida, and saw blind contestant Scott MacIntyre go home, took No. 1 for the week with 23 million viewers, while the Tuesday performance show came in at No. 2 with just a handful fewer eyeballs – 22.8 million, to be exact.

Of the new shows, Surviving Suburbia (No. 14) and Harper’s Island (No. 19) landed in the Top 20. Suburbia drew 11.3 million viewers and was undoubtedly buoyed by lead-in, Dancing With the Stars (No. 3), which attracted 19.9 million viewers. Harper’s drew 10.2 million viewers and was also boosted by its lead-in, CSI (No. 7), which drew 16.6 million watchers. Viewership for both shows, however, dropped off sharply from those lead-ins, with Suburbia losing 43 percent of Dancing’s audience and Harper’s losing 39 percent of CSI’s crowd.

As for the non-Top 20 shows, Southland (No. 22) rolled in with 9.9 million viewers; the new Amy Poehler comedy, Parks & Recreations (No. 40), drew 6.9 million pairs of eyes; and The Unusuals (No. 41) attracted 6.8 million viewers.

The rest of the Top 20 – complete with full viewership numbers – is after the jump.
