Will & Grace’s Debra Messing is reuniting with the writer/producers of The Starter Wife for a new NBC comedy. The untitled pilot is one of many incorporating the current economy into its plot:Messing will play a laid-off CEO who struggles with her new role as a full-timewife and mother, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This sounds great for her: She does smart-but-flustered so well.
This got me thinking: We know that Eric McCormack has a pilot at ABC: He’ll play a heart surgeon with a newborn and a friend whose kids have already left the nest. We’re watching (or not watching) Megan Mullally in ABC’s In the Motherhood. But where is Sean Hayes at? He’s been doing movies (Soul Men, The Bucket List) and theater (Damn Yankees with 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski). But I think we need him back on weekly TV. We can’t survive on Will & Grace reruns alone.
Any suggestions for a Hayes series? And what do you think of this new Messing show? Will you be watching?
