'Jon & Kate Plus 8': In violation of child labor laws?

There’s more trouble brewing in the Jon and Kate Gosselin universe. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry confirms that it is investigating TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8 to determine whether the reality show violates child labor laws. “Our Bureau of Labor Law Compliance is conducting an investigation,” spokesman Christopher Manlove tells EW. “Because it is ongoing, I can’t provide information about the investigation.” (News of the probe was first reported by Usmagazine.com.)

In a statement, a rep for TLC said the channel “fully complies” with all laws: “For an extended period of time, we have been engaged in cooperative discussions and supplied all requested information to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor. We will continue to engage the appropriate officials and meet any standards or regulations that are applicable to TLC productions.”
