The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has decided not to pre-record eight award categories at its upcoming ceremony, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Meanwhile, The Wrap is reporting that the move is likely but hasn’t yet been finalized. The TV Academy had come under fire from dozens of series showrunners after announcing that it would “time-shift” a batch of writing, directing, acting, and producing categories. The plan was to pre-record their awards presentations and then intersperse them throughout the live show in an attempt to shave 15 minutes off of the show running time. The Academy has no comment.
