We gave it a B+

It seems unfair to compare a rookie with an all-star, but Parks and Recreation asked for it: In the comedy (created by Office alumni), Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope is just Steve Carell’s Michael Scott in a pencil skirt. But Parks‘ trouble is that it was all snark and no warmth until episode 3 — too late for some viewers. That’s a shame because the show, about Poehler’s overeager public servant (think Tracy Flick, but less capable), is on its way to taking the ”Kick Me” sign off Leslie’s back and making her co-workers more humane — like on The Office. That series soared this season as Michael found the stones to start a rival paper firm (”You have no idea how high I can fly,” he told his boss in a moment of awesomeness). The key is giving the dorks an occasional win. EXTRAS Watch Parks‘ extended season finale — it’s a hopeful sign of where the show is headed. Office: B+ Parks: B?
