The revival of the David Mamet play Oleanna, which stars Bill Pullman as a college professor and Julia Stiles as a student who believes he has sexually harassed her, will close this Sunday on Broadway, producers have announced. The play had previously been set to close on Jan. 3. For the week ending Nov. 29, the production reportedly played to just 32 percent capacity, grossing $129,778. During its run, Oleanna will have seen 80 performances.
“On behalf of the producers, all of whom are so proud of this incredible production, we realize closing now is the best decision for the play,” said producer Jeffrey Finn in a statement. “While we all hoped Oleanna could run longer, looking over the next few weeks prior to the holidays, we know the most financially responsible decision is to avoid potential upcoming losses.”
