Summit Entertainment, the studio behind The Twilight Saga, just acquired North American rights to Roman Polanki’s latest film The Ghost Writer. The BBC reported that this is the project he was finishing while imprisoned in Switzerland. Summit International also sold all the rights to the film internationally and intends to release the thriller, starring Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor, during the first half of next year.
Polanski, currently under house arrest at his chalet in Switzerland, was arrested in Zurich in September on an international fugitive warrant for his sex crimes against 13-year old Samantha Geimer back in 1977. His lawyers are urging a California appeals panel to throw out the case due to misconduct, from the district attorney and the original judge, when the case was initially tried.
