CNN says Anderson Cooper did not meet with CBS about anchor position

A spokesperson for CNN says that reports that Anderson Cooper met with CBS executives to discuss an anchor job at the network are untrue. “Reports that Cooper has recently met with CBS News re: an anchor position are false,” the spokesperson told EW in an email. “He is not engaged in any additional conversations with them beyond those necessary for his continuing role on 60 Minutes.” The meeting was reported to have taken place “months ago.” Katie Couric’s contract at CBS expires next year.

A CBS executive tells EW, “We’re perfectly happy with the role Anderson currently has at CBS, and we’re not talking to him or anyone else about Katie’s job.”
