Confession: I’ve never seen a Nightmare on Elm Street movie. There was a time, in like junior high, that I watched five minutes of one sleeping over at a friend’s house. I’ve blocked it out, but I have vague memories of hearing noises in her bedroom that night and her insisting it was just the ceiling fan. I will change the channel now if a trailer for the 2010 version, starring Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger, comes on. (Watch the new trailer, featuring more of Twilight‘s Kellan Lutz, after the jump.) I know I’m not alone. I have a friend who, if I’m remembering the ordeal he detailed correctly, woke up in the middle of the night in 2003 and saw the Freddy vs. Jason trailer he’d been avoiding. It traumatized him so much that he had to start sleeping with the light on, which sent him into therapy. Yeah.

Anyone else have a true Nightmare phobia? Is there another horror trailer that made you turn the channel? Since I did actually watch this preview once on my computer “for work” (during the day), two more questions: Do you think the diner in the trailer is the same one used in Legion? And why do I find the sight of Connie Britton, even in this film, somewhat comforting?
