Image Credit: Jon Furniss/WireImage.comRoughly a year after it was supposed to start shooting, the Brad Pitt-led Moneyball is thisclose to finally getting under way, according to Deadline.com. At last! The current incarnation — adapted by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Bennett Miller (Capote) — could start filming in July. Pitt is set to play Billy Beane, the Oakland A’s GM, and Jonah Hill will play stats guru Paul DePodesta.

Michael Lewis’ fantastic book is full of tense, high-stakes scenes where characters spew jargon, and backstories and personal beefs often affect outcomes; if that’s not Sorkin’s wheelhouse, I don’t know what is. (And I secretly hope Moneyball winds up sounding like comedy writer Ken Levine’s imagined Sorkin/baseball series.)

Combining baseball, nerdery, and Brad Pitt spells total bliss to me. What about you, PopWatchers? Are you still betting on Moneyball, or does it scream strike out?
