American Idol‘s Crystal Bowersox has talked about Jewel’s influence on her, but I don’t think any of us realized how deep that influence went…until now. A video has hit the internets of a teen-aged Crystal singing at a show in 1999, and she’s working the Jewel realness fiercely. While looking supremely cute and understated, Crystal opens her mouth and you’re instantly transported to the mid-’90s, specifically to songs like “You Were Meant for Me” and “Who Will Save Your Soul” by Jewel. Granted, Crystal very much has her own thing going on, but you can’t deny that Jewel-ness of young Crystal in the video, which you can watch here:

Such talent, right? One of the amazing things is how she’s always been so Crystal for so long. It’s not like she created this current persona for American Idol. And she’s such an old soul at such a young age, right? What do you think of the video?
