Ne-Yo unleashes 'Beautiful Monster': Stream the first single from upcoming album here

Ne-Yo

Ne-YoImage Credit: Chris StanfordIt’s been two years since Ne-Yo released his last album, Year of the Gentleman, but we’ll be hearing a full-length LP from him soon. This morning he debuted “Beautiful Monster,” the first single from his forthcoming Libra Scale album, on his Myspace page, and EW has a stream of the song here.

Similar to the first single from his last set, “Closer,” Ne-Yo puts traditional R&B to the side and goes for more of a European club sound. “Monster” was produced by duo Stargate, who are responsible for Ne-Yo’s biggest hits “So Sick,” “Because of You,” and the aforementioned “Closer.” Over jabbing synths and a whipping bass, the singer-songwriter croons about how the cuts and hits he takes from a vixen hurt so good.

“I don’t mind,” he sings. “In fact I like it. Though I’m terrified. I’m turned on, but scared of you.” It’s a solid cut, one I expect to make a steady climb up the charts. Ne-Yo’s brand of progressive R&B has a been a winner so far. “Monster” should be a beast, too.

What do you think of Ne-Yo’s first single? Check it after the jump and let us know.
