USA's blacklisted spy is in for more action and danger

USA, Thursdays, 9 p.m.

Where we left off: Blacklisted superspy Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) was kidnapped, and on June 3’s season 4 premiere, he agreed to join forces with the organization that burned him. Michael also learned that he was responsible for burning another spy, counterintelligence agent Jesse (Coby Bell).

What’s next: ”The stakes have to just keep getting higher,” says Donovan. ”We probably did about 10 explosions last year, and this year we’ve done 10 explosions in the first five episodes.” Jesse, who enlists Michael to help find out who burned him (awkward?), will team up with our hero, Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar), and Sam (Bruce Campbell) for their weekly adventures. Meanwhile, Burt Reynolds appears as a retired spy whom Michael saves from an assassination attempt. ”I think people are going to be glued to see Michael Westen pair up with Smokey and the Bandit,” says Donovan. ”And in a Dodge Charger of all things.”
