Ratings: World Cup scores record numbers; Daytime Emmys lukewarm

Saturday’s World Cup match between the U.S. and Ghana delivered record ratings for ABC and Univision, which both aired the game. The game was seen by a whopping 19.4 million viewers between the two networks, and was the most watched soccer game ever in the U.S., beating the previous record of 18.1 million for the 1994 Italy/Brazil final match.

Meanwhile, things were more lukewarm for CBS’ airing of the Daytime Emmys last night. The awards show was only watched by 5.6 million viewers, which was still a boost from last year’s ceremony which aired on The CW.
