Not only will the upcoming project reunite Juno‘s screenwriter (Diablo Cody), director (Jason Reitman), and studio producers, but, as reported by EW’s Nicole Sperling, it’s also likely to star two great actors, Charlize Theron and Patrick Wilson. As impressive as all that is, I haven’t even mentioned what is arguably the coolest name associated with Young Adult: Patton Oswalt, who Sperling reports might soon be cast as “as a self-hating man who was in love with Theron’s character in high school.”

Sounds great. Oswalt is one hilarious guy, as increasing numbers of moviegoers have come to realize in recent years. He starred in last year’s well-received indie flick Big Fan, and he voiced the lead rodent in 2007’s Pixar hit Ratatouille, but neither of those projects has quite succeeded in making him a recognizable movie star. Could Young Adult change that? Without having seen a single frame, or really knowing anything about the project aside from some plot elements and the list of other potential talent, I’m going to say the answer is yes. At least, I hope so.

What about you? Do you think this movie sounds like a good fit for Oswalt’s talents? Do you think it will give his profile a deserved boost?
