Jon Stewart: Comedy for a cause

''The Daily Show'' host auctions off his fellow funny guys for charity

Host Jon Stewart issued a warning at the Oct. 2 taping of Comedy Central’s Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Concert for Autism Education in NYC. ”I just want to remind you: charity event — [whispers] lower your expectations.” But the special (which airs Oct. 21) still scored plenty of laughs, thanks to a sure-to-go-viral duet with Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert, and appearances by a dozen comedy heavyweights. One of the best moments? When Chris Rock made an R-rated phone call to the ex-boyfriend of a female audience member. (She won the interaction in the event’s charity auction.) ”How much is closure worth?” Stewart quipped. Apparently, $20,000.
