MTV's 'Skins' reveals strong start

(Nope. Nothing inappropriate here (Jason Nocito/MTV))

MTV’s naughty-by-calculated-design drama Skins got off to a strong start on the network, delivering 3.3 million viewers.

Insiders had their fingers crossed for anything above 3 million, so this number comes as a relief. What’s notably absent from MTV’s ratings release, however, is how many watched the special Monday night airing of Jersey Shore that led into Skins. We’ll post that when we get it.

Skins outperformed the series premiere of Hard Times of RJ Berger, which opened to 2.6 million viewers last summer after the MTV Movie Awards.

Ken Tucker’s Skins recap here, where he points out that “Skins is going to have a hard time distinguishing its ground-breaking rude-lewd-shamelessness from all the other rude-lewd-shameless shows on TV right now.”
