The big names keep on coming for the fall TV derby: Silver screen veteran Anjelica Huston (The Grifters, Addams Family) has been cast in NBC and executive producer Steven Spielberg’s musical pilot Smash.
Her character is described as a shrewd, dry, smart, cynical New York City theatre producer. NBC’s answer to Fox’s Glee traces the creation of a musical from conception to opening night.
Also on board: American Idol alum Katharine McPhee as a singer, Jack Davenport, who will play the show’s choreographer, and Debra Messing as the musical’s lyricist. On the small screen, Huston most recently had an recurring arc on Medium in 2008.
