As the sensitive teacher Ms. Rain from Precious. ”Precious definitely opened doors for me,” says Patton, 35. ”But after that, I really wanted to do comedy.”

MEETING THE IN-LAWS

The L.A. native started dating her husband, musician Robin Thicke (son of actor Alan Thicke), when she was 15. ”I remember being shocked at the wealth: ‘You live here?’ It was a new world for me.”

LIGHTENING UP

Patton shot Broom just three months after giving birth to her son, Julian. ”When I read in the script that I had to be in a bra and panty, I got serious,” she says. ”I worked hard — and I was hungry.”

NEXT

She plays the female lead (said to be a fellow agent alongside Tom Cruise) in December’s Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol. ”She is a fierce, badass chick. I was bruised up. I’m lucky I didn’t get hurt.”
