All-time best movie kiss: Does anything even come close to 'The Notebook'?

The Notebook

(Melissa Moseley)

A kiss is just a kiss. Except for when it’s vying for bragging rights to the greatest kiss in the history of movies.

Last night on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards, we asked some of the stars in attendance what their all-time favorite film kiss is. And while some cited the 2011 Best Kiss nominees – like Nicki Minaj who told EW, “The one in Black Swan is pretty darn hot between Mila [Kunis] and Natalie [Portman]” – more went by the way of classics. (To see what some of your favorite celebrities selected, click here.)

But, PopWatchers, we want to know what you think is the all-time best movie kiss. Much to my horror/surprise, I found myself agreeing with the one celeb who has been part of some, er, interesting, kissing of her own lately, Selena Gomez.

I, like the 18-year-old singer/actress swooned (this is pretty much where our similarities begin and end) over the hot and heavy, years-in-the-making kiss in the rain between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in The Notebook. While I think the movie as a whole is rather mediocre, I will watch that yowza of a smooch every single time it’s on cable (thanks, Oxygen!) because, as far as sexy, romantic (“It wasn’t over. It still isn’t over!”), Ryan Gosling-y kisses go, that one is pretty impossible to trump.

But, I know you’ve all got some great and worthy picks out there, too. Is it the urgent kiss between Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback Mountain that tugs at your heart, or do you get swept up with Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh in Gone With The Wind? Do you get revved up by watching Naomi Watts and Laura Harring in Mulholland Dr.? Or, like as it so often is at the MTV Movie Awards themselves, will it be Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in Twilight who stand the test of time as the greatest movie kiss ever? Pucker up and us know in the comments section below!
