Rep. Anthony Weiner's new foe, the Internet, reveals 1996 'Cosmo' bachelor spread

There’s a photo making its way around the Internet that Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), probably hoped would disappear forever. That, of course, being the Cosmo Bachelor spread from 1996 that just-so-happened to get up on the web just one day after the troubled politician admitted he sent lewd photographs of himself to women via Twitter.

Of course, there’s no way the Cosmo article – which boasted that Weiner could be “the future President” – is even half as damaging as the scandal that’s plaguing the Congressman, but, really, that doesn’t make it any less amusing/embarrassing in light of recent events, does it? Between the picture, which finds Weiner in a striking Chandler Bing ensemble, and the quotes from the then-single 31-year-old (“I want to be sucked back into the throes of love – isn’t that what everybody really wants?”), it’s almost as if someone handed late night talk show hosts and cable pundits their opening monologue on a silver platter.
