When David Cronenberg’s calculated creepiness collides with proper Edwardian Era aesthetics in the film, A Dangerous Method, the director of such films as The History of Violence and Eastern Promises prevails. Working again with Viggo Mortensen, who plays a graying Sigmund Freud opposite Michael Fassbender’s romantically conflicted Carl Jung, Cronenberg mines the primal urges that lurk beneath the tightest of buttons and stiff collars. Keira Knightley plays a Russian virgin — but, of course — who tempts and titillates Jung in a way that would make a James Spader character proud. Take a look at the saucy new trailer.
