USA has announced that it is going into the half-hour comedy game after giving the green light to two pilots. The first pilot, called for now the Untitled Douglas McGrath Project (a.k.a. On We Go), focuses on an unlucky Broadway hopeful who returns to his hometown in Texas to care for his ailing father. Nathan Lane will executive produce and possibly star alongside McGrath. The second pilot, Paging Dr. Freed, follows two brothers who have inherited their late father’s medical practice. “The pick up of these half-hour comedy pilots underscores our commitment to broadening the appeal of USA’s entertainment brand,” said USA Co-Presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel.  “We’re excited to be collaborating with some of the most distinct voices in the business as we open up to new genres.”
