Sometimes it’s easy to forget that LeAnn Rimes was the precocious youngster that nabbed the Best New Artist winner at the 1997 Grammys, isn’t it? That’s primarily because over the past few years, Rimes went from being a country-crossover sensation to tabloid mainstay, thanks to her relationship with her now-husband, Playboy Club actor Eddie Cibrian. (The two began an affair while working on 2009’s cheese-tastic Northern Lights, which ultimately turned into its own Nora Roberts drama and caused the demise of both of their respective marriages.)
The scandal that never-says-die got a
second fourteenth life when Cibrian’s ex-wife Brandi Glanville debuted on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this week, prompting people to get invested in the story once more. In her premiere episode Glanville declared, “I was married to the number-one d—–bag of all time.”
Perhaps to make sure she doesn’t get a kicky new nickname courtesy of Glanville on The Real Housewives, Rimes appeared on Thursday’s installment of Ellen to discuss, among other things, her relationship with Cibrian. “Obviously, we made decisions that were not necessarily the right ones, but it obviously brought us to the place where we are now. And, we’re happy and we’re married. And we’ve always put his kids first. We took the kids into consideration with everything that we do,” Rimes told DeGeneres. “The way we handled it, I will always say, it could’ve been handled a lot better, but maybe we both didn’t have the tools at the time to do it properly. I think we have both come to a really good place in our lives. And, right now, I’m really at peace.” Watch the interview below.
The actress/singer continued, “At the end of the day it’s definitely been hard to see tons of lies written about a situation that people don’t necessarily know the truth. … So you have to take the high road a lot of the times when you want to stand on a mountain and scream, like, ‘Why are you saying this?’ … We’ve learned to let it go and laugh at it at the end of the day.”
But, her marriage to Cibrian hasn’t been the only thing people haven’t been able to stop talking about. When photos of a thinner-looking Rimes hit the web this summer, rumors of an eating disorder began to swirl. Rimes told DeGeneres that she worried. “These are diseases and people are using them as name-calling” and she felt a “responsibility” to clear the air to those actually suffering from said diseases. The 29-year-old firmly stated she is not “anorexic in any way or bulimic at all.”

What do you think of what Rimes had to say to Ellen, PopWatchers? Do you think it’s unfair that she has to keep explaining herself, or will she never be able to shake this stigma? Do you think Brandi Glanville will continue to bring it up on The Real Housewives?
