Aaron Eckhart will tell the fascinating, albeit often tumultuous, story of the late Dennis Wilson, member of the legendary band The Beach Boys, for a new biopic called The Drummer. According to the official statement, Eckhart, who is currently being trained in vocals, piano, and of course, drums, will chronicle the last six years of Wilson’s life, including the release of his acclaimed solo album Pacific Ocean Blue.

The increasingly busy actor, who will next be seen in The Rum Diary, before playing a CIA agent in Erased (formerly titled The Expatriate), is also slated to appear in the upcoming Pan and I, Frankenstein. The star who played Harvey Dent in 2008’s The Dark Knight will also serve as an executive producer on The Drummer, which is being helmed by Bottle Shock‘s Randall Miller and Jody Savin.
