Nathan Lane will star in and executive produce a new pilot from writer/director Douglas McGrath (Bullets Over Broadway) for USA. Lane will play Jasper, a struggling actor whose dreams of Broadway are put on hold so he can care for his sick father back in his Texas hometown.

Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock) will play a friendly Texas doctor, and Ken Jenkins (Cougar Town) will portray Jasper’s dad, Burl, in the still-untitled, half-hour, single-camera comedy. “Nathan Lane is one of the most versatile comedic forces in the entertainment industry,” said Bill McGoldrick, senior vice president of USA’s original scripted programming. “We’re thrilled to have an actor his stature and Doug McGrath’s masterful script aligned with the launch of our comedy brand. We’re not surprised the combination of Nathan and Doug quickly attracted such high-caliber and notable actors as Cheyenne and Ken.”
