Tuesday’s episode of Glee got a lot of buzz because of its sexual content but it didn’t help the show generate season high ratings.

The drama only posted a 3.1 rating/8 share in the key demo and 6.89 million viewers, according to early results, and ranked no. 2 in its timeslot in the key demo. The episode that featured an implied sex scene between Kurt and Blaine did, however, win its timeslot in females 12-17 (4.0/13) and women 18-24 (5.5/18). That should tickle the Parents Television Council, which got all hot and bothered over the idea of Glee promoting teen sex in the so-called Family Hour.

The news was better for New Girl, which posted a 3.5/9 in 18-49, down one-tenth from last week in the demo but still the highest-rated program of the night in adults 18-34 and the second highest-rated program of the night in adults 18-49. It averaged 6.80 million viewers. Raising Hope posted a 2.1/5.

Each 18-49 ratings point equals 1.3 million viewers.

NCIS remained the show to beat at 8: The CBS drama earned a timeslot winning 4.1/11 and 20 million viewers — that’s a season high, kids — followed by NCIS: Los Angeles (3.4/8, 15.5 million) and Unforgettable (2.4/7, 11.6 million). On ABC, Last Man Standing (2.6/7, 9.2 million) and Man Up! (1.7/5, 6.2 million) both delivered their lowest rated telecasts to date, while Dancing with the Stars earned a 2.7/7 and 14.8 million. At 10, the special In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: All Access Nashville (oh boy, how…boring) posted a 1.7/5 and 8.6 million.

NBC’s The Biggest Loser posted a 2.4/6 and 6.8 million while Parenthood earned a 2.0/6 and 5.2 million.

On CW, 90210 (1.6 million) attracted its largest audience and best adults 18-34 rating (1.0/3) since Sept. 27.

Bottom line: CBS won the night in the demo (3.3/9), followed by Fox (2.9/8), NBC (2.3/6), ABC (2.2/6), Univision (1.5/4), and CW (.8/2). In viewers, CBS was on top with 15.8 million, followed by ABC (10.4 million), Fox (6.3 million), NBC (6.2 million), Univision (3.4 million), and CW (1.6 million).
